Egypt involvement in Yemen 'may actually weaken Egypt's regional role', expert says • FRANCE 24

Egypt's parliament on Monday delayed a debate on President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's request to authorise military support for Saudi Arabia until next week, state media reported, after an emergency session ended without a decision a day earlier. FRANCE 24's Sharon Gaffney speaks with Dr May Darwich, Associate Professor in International Relations of the Middle East at the University of Birmingham. She explains that "this kind of military operation does not really have any objectives or exit strategy so at the moment this might actually weaken Egypt's regional role". #Yemen #Egypt #SaudiArabia 🔔 Subscribe to France 24 now: https://f24.my/YTen 🔴 LIVE - Watch FRANCE 24 English 24/7 here: https://f24.my/YTliveEN 🌍 Read the latest International News and Top Stories: https://www.france24.com/en/ Like us on Facebook: https://f24.my/FBen Follow us on X: https://f24.my/Xen Bluesky: https://f24.my/BSen and Threads: https://f24.my/THen Browse the news in pictures on Instagram: https://f24.my/IGen Discover our TikTok videos: https://f24.my/TKen Get the latest top stories on Telegram: https://f24.my/TGen
